As it is a project processed with “conclusive character”, it is only debated and approved in commissions, without going through the plenary session of the House of Representatives.
Now the bill will go back to the Senate.
Project content
The proposal establishes that ozone therapy will only be applied by a higher level health professional registered in a professional supervisory council, who must inform the patient about its complementarity; and the procedure can only be done with medicinal ozone production equipment certified by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa).
AEPROMO support to the Brazilian project
AEPROMO, through IMEOF, has always supported ABOZ (Brazilian Association of Ozone Therapy) in its interest so that ozone therapy is finally regulated in Brazil and until 2015 (year in which ABOZ withdrew from IMEOF) provided direct legal advice. However, legal support has continued to be provided and hence the analysis carried out by IMEOF in the document “Legal Situation of Ozone Therapy in Brazil.”

Legal status of ozone therapy in Brazil
In Brazil, ozone therapy is regulated in dentistry (2015), and veterinary (2020). As for medicine, there is a contradictory legal situation because while the Federal Council of Medicine recognizes the practice in the private sector only in clinical trials; the Ministry of Health authorized it in the public sector.
